Sequim Middle School Reviews

As a grandparent of one of the middle school student I am very displeased with the quality of education she is receiving. She is in the seventh grade and I work with her every weekend to try to teach her the multiplication tables. The way she was taught math is unacceptable. This No Child Left Behind in not a good thing.

this middle school is atleast 2 years behind what my kids were doing in another state. my child has not had any homework to speak of in 2 years that we have been here. there are no after school tutoring programs. the schools in sequim are terrible!!!!

The assistant principal is excellent, she has a 'reputation'(small town mentality, unfortunately) as the enforcer, but she is very fair.(wish she was the principal). There are some excellent, dedicated, respected teachers; but, you only get them if you know who they are and that you can request them(small town favoritism, again). Compared to our new ms, the sequim science program is non-existant. We didn't realize how bad the atmosphere is in sequim schools, until we moved to a good school in another state.

The math program is superior. There are math teachers that are very good. I have learned more from them than I have learned in Gateway Middle in Everett. The thing that is lacking there is the technology. Computers are not very up to date. Otherwise it is a great school. I don't know about the high school though.

My child is not an 'average' learner. I do not feel this school is willing to accomadate his problems. The teacher was set in his ways and would not even take into consideration my sons disabiltys. The principal was very unsupportive. The teacher went so far as to raised his voice and tell me I was making excuess for my son. How does every child learn the same, and why do some teachers think they are better then the parents, we pay there salary? I think parent involvement would be much higher if some of the teachers steped off there pedistal and treated each parent with respect. I will no longer support this school as long as this principal and teacher are employed. PS. some of the teachers are wonderful. I have in the past always supported the schools, but no longer!
